Ice to Water: A Benefit for Haiti
On January 31, 2010 the Baltimore City Department of Recreation and Parks partnered with the local ice skating community to benefit disaster relief efforts in Haiti.
Ice to Water: A Benefit for Haiti featured a special
performance by 2006 World and 2007 National Champion, Kimmie Meissner, along with local soloists, Learn to Skate students, and Mt. Pleasant's own "Grape Youth" performance Troupe.
Dr. Dwayne Thomas, Recreation and Parks’ Interim Director stated,
“Even in the midst of tough budgetary times and the economic crisis in which we find ourselves,
we have an opportunity to do more and to demonstrate our compassion for the people of Haiti.”
All proceeds were be donated to UNICEF.
